The word fashion is not just bound to trendy, beautiful, and expensive dresses or footwear. It has become a way of living and expressing oneself to others. We have to follow fashion trends in our everyday life. Thus it affects not only social but also the economic aspects of life as well.

Fashion where enhance one’s personality and confidence, on the other hand, has some detrimental effects on our society. Every age group and gender has to keep up with its pace.

Here are some positive and negative impacts fashion is producing on our people and society.

Beneficial Effects of Fashion

1. Employment Opportunities

With the advancement in the fashion industry, there are a lot of job opportunities for apparel workers every year. If fashion designing is your passion, you can pursue your career with a good profit. A study was conducted in Germany during the Coronavirus crisis to evaluate the financial condition of workers and consumers. According to one-third of consumers, fashion brands can ease the financial condition of apparel workers in the pandemic time.

2. Personality Enhancement

Did you ever think your personality would be judged by your clothes and dressing sense? Nowadays people value appearance more than character. In this modern age, fashion provides us with a way to express ourselves the way we are and what we want to be. Because the clothes we wear depict our style, it reflects and affects our confidence to a great extent.

3. Discover New Talent in Fashion Industry

Fashion is one of the most competitive industries where trends change fastly with time. This can give our society new refreshing talents that come with new and distinctive ideas.

Detrimental Effects of Fashion

1. Inferiority Complex

People spend a lot of money on buying trending fashionable apparel and footwear. If they do not have enough money for that purpose, they feel low self-esteem among their peers. Media plays an important role in inculcating competition and inferiority complex in people, especially the youth. A study shows that foreign media has a potent influence on the culture, language, and fashion of the youth that eventually affects their lifestyle.

2. Distraction

Fashion trends distract the youth from their important productive activities. They waste their valuable time in comparing their clothes with others and try to get better than others. It’s not beneficial for their self-esteem and studies as well.

3. Social evils

Unbalanced financial standards and competition of being at a higher level give rise to many social evils in society. Youngsters indulged themselves in activities like robbery and stealing to keep their standard high among their fellows.

Fashion has become an inevitable part of our lives. We have to stay up-to-date according to recent trends in fashion. But keep in mind fashion is meant for our comfort, don’t make yourself its slave.
